Waiver
All guests are required to sign a waiver prior to the expedition, which can be accessed here.
Parents or guardians will need to sign on behalf of minors (under 19 years old).
Please share the link to the waiver with everyone in your group.
Meeting Location & Parking
Your expedition will depart and return from the Dennis Point Wharf. Our boat, “Apex Explorer,” is kept at the Wharf, but we will meet the group at Dennis Point Café ( 214 Dennis Point Rd, Lower West Pubnico, Nova Scotia, B0W 2C0).
Meeting time
Arrive at the wharf 10 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time.

Visiting from out of town?
Arriving by Air: If you plan to fly in for the expedition, the nearest airport to the marina is Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ). Note that Halifax airport is about 3 hours drive to the meeting location in Lower West Pubnico.
Arriving by Sea ferry from the US: The closest main city to our departure site is Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, which is accessible via a ferry from Bar Harbour, Maine (USA). The ferry can even accommodate cars. Guests can literally drive up on to a ferry and be transported to Yarmouth, which is about 15 minutes from our wharf. Ferry reservations can be made here. Note that the Maine to Yarmouth Ferry runs to Oct 15.
After Oct 15, there are Ferries between Maine – Saint John/New Brunswick – Digby/Nova Scotia.

Weather Cancellation Policy & Trip Insurance Advantage
ASE may need to cancel or postpone an expedition due to high winds that would make the ocean too rough and thus unsafe for the shark cage. The weather in Nova Scotia is highly variable, and the forecast is only accurate the day before, so we may be forced to cancel or reschedule the day before for weather-related safety. So please be on the lookout for messages from ASE. Having to cancel or postpone a trip relatively last minute due to rough seas or other unforeseen circumstances is out of our control and a reality. Here are your primary options if this happens: (1) reschedule your trip to a future date (subject to availability), (2) Receive a voucher for a future expedition (never expires, always redeemable for a full ticket, even if prices increase).
For travelers who cannot reasonably reschedule or use a voucher, we highly recommend exploring the following options if you want a refund:
- Many credit cards include trip cancellation/interruption insurance when you pay with that card. This often extends to related non-refundable travel costs like hotels and airfare. As a first step, please check with your credit card provider to confirm if coverage applies in the event of an ASE weather cancellation.
- If your credit card doesn’t provide the necessary coverage, you should consider purchasing trip cancellation or interruption insurance
- Manulife offers Trip Cancellation & Interruption Insurance for Canadian residents, which reimburses ASE tickets and related non-refundable travel costs if ASE cancels for weather/safety or other unexpected events. Canadian residents can purchase directly here
- For Non-Canadian guests, please check out Word Nomad Travel Insurance via this link (Nomad provides various travel and medical insurance options for out of town travelers). You will want to confirm that coverage extends to ASE weather related cancellations of pre-paid tour tickets.
