These expeditions offer the incredible opportunity to view and cage dive with great white sharks while directly supporting meaningful research on this iconic predator.
Observe sharks from the deck or take the plunge in our shark cage, with guest and shark safety always our top priority. The cage is securely attached to the vessel, with its opening remaining above the surface. While cage diving, your head will be only a few feet underwater, so no scuba certification is required. Breathing air is supplied through secure surface-air lines, allowing you to comfortably enjoy the underwater experience.

The boat departs and returns from Lower West Pubnico, a small fishing community at the southern tip of Nova Scotia. While accommodation and transport to the dock in West Pubnico are not included, we have partnerships with several businesses that offer our guests special discounted rates on car rentals and accommodations. Every expedition is unique. Booking multiple days increases your opportunities to observe different behaviours and experience favourable marine conditions. It also provides additional opportunities should a trip be cancelled due to unsafe weather.
Book 3 expeditions and save 10%, 4 and save 12%, or 5 and save 15% on the entire booking. Discounts are applied automatically at checkout. Expeditions may be booked on any available dates or times and do not need to be consecutive.
While our chances of encountering sharks are high, great white sharks are rare, wild animals, and sightings can never be guaranteed. Every trip remains an authentic research expedition where guests learn about sharks and contribute valuable scientific data, even when sharks are not observed. The likelihood of encountering sharks is lower during the early season, which is reflected in the reduced ticket price for these expeditions. If no sharks are sighted during your expedition, you will receive a 20% partial refund of your expedition booking cost.
Atlantic Shark Expeditions is authorized to conduct scientific research with Great White Sharks via a permit by the Canadian Government under the Species at Risk Act. Through this research, ecotourists have the privilege of joining researchers on boat-based expeditions to search for sharks, view sharks from the boat and/or underwater from the cage, learn from the research team, and observe scientific activities.

No. Experiencing the sharks underwater from the safety of the cage does not require scuba diving or scuba certification. Cage divers are supplied with surface air via a hosed hookah system.
