Weather Cancellation Policy & Trip Insurance Advantage
ASE may need to cancel or postpone an expedition if high winds create rough sea conditions that make cage operations unsafe. Weather in Nova Scotia is highly variable with weather-related cancelations a reality. Marine forecasts are most accurate only the day before. As a result, we may be forced to make weather-related cancellations or rescheduling decisions the day prior to your expedition. Please keep an eye out for messages from ASE.
If a cancellation occurs, here are your primary options:
(1) Reschedule your expedition to a future date (subject to availability).
(2) Receive a never-expiring voucher for a future expedition. This voucher can always be redeemed for a full ticketโeven if prices increase.
If you cannot reasonably reschedule or use a voucher, we strongly recommend purchasing our Weather-Proof Ticket Upgrade, which provides a refund of your ticket (minus the weather-proof upgrade fee) if ASE must cancel due to weather. If you initially declined this upgrade, you can still add it up to one week before your expedition using this link.
For guests who may incur additional travel-related costs (hotels, flights, rental cars), we also recommend exploring travel insurance, like trip interruption or cancellation insurance. Many credit cards automatically include this coverage when the trip is paid for with that card, often extending to non-refundable expenses such as airfare and accommodations. Please check with your credit card provider to confirm coverage in the event of an ASE weather cancellation.
If your credit card does not provide the coverage you need, companies such as Manulife, Allianz, and Nomad Travel offer trip cancellation/interruption insurance that may help protect your travel investment.
